Hi Adam, thanks very much for your great videos. btw, how can I sign up to your newsletter? i can't find it on your website...
Useful, thanks
Am I being delusional? But I think you sound like Mads Mikkelsen 😭😭
I'm a bit surprised you ignored some very good, detailed and just easy to learn grammar book series: Focus on Grammar (Pearson), My Grammar Lab (Pearson), Oxford Practice Grammar, Oxford English Grammar Course, Grammar In Context (NGL), Destination (Macmillan)
Mister you are an appreciable teacher. I have studied with your videos a lot. it's so beneficial for my English practice. Thanks
Am here
Sir, your inputs like how to practice grammar and rules behind it were awesome, To enhance my Vocabulary ability this video is useful. Thank you so much
But I do totally agree with you about the connotation and the emphasis
Dear Adam, I watch almost all your videos (WTTT, Engvid...) and I often agree with you. However, your k.i.s.s. is not very convincing. Your example about condolences doesn't seem right to me: the two formulations simply don't say the same thing. The initial sentence explains the context and the feeling, the rewording only gives the information. The first sentence (partially) depicts the emotion, the second is dry. This is the duality between informational language and literary language. But YOU ARE STILL MY FAVOURITE TEACHER on the web.
Dear Adam, Is "hand over" the same as "delegate"?
How much we appreciate doesn't enough what you do in here 👏👏👏
Well explained. Thank you so much
"I do not want to offend you, yet I perfectly understand that you regurgitate Will's lectures with your own ones." "You see, disseminating this kind of information is only allowed when you pay the director." Jake said uncomfortably. "I abhor John's ability to spin every somewhat suspicious news into a conspiratorial theory." Sir Adam, I've gotten a question: Could I use "curate" in a context of book publishing? Thank you so much for this video, which helped me learn four new verbs! Best regards from A Ukrainian. You articulated everything in this lesson so clearly that I can start using those four right away!
😊👍🏾
thank you so much, Adam!

English Doctor Adam😮🎉🎉🎉❤❤😊😊
as a teacher that I was, the worst thing you can do when going over an essays is cross -- deleted in order to making an art of work instead of backing up the student. Were I to get my essay with such a disapointed crossing-deteled nearly all my words I would problably give up learning a Language. The best method is not how teachers want to read. Being perfect is a deterrent. So , let the student some slack. Deterrent reviews must be get ride of teaching. Dishing it out. One thing is back up reviews and other is rewriting the essays by teachers.
How can students learn, if not from their own mistakes? How can they see their mistakes if it weren't for a good and experienced teacher, who shows them a better way? It has nothing to do with art of work, it is called continuous improvement, and every ambitious student understands this.
Were I to give an opinion of Which likes every one I would play lottery beforehand.do you know reading between lines. ? Opinions about review essays don't make me better student, but I want to write my own essay, not being teacher's pet
I agree. However, this assessment is not for an composition class or a high school English class. This is for the IELTS exam, a very expensive and potentially life-changing test. In this case, every mistake can cost not only points, but actual money, time, and options. The IELTS examiners do not cut anyone too much slack, so I want to help test takers avoid these mistakes and avoid losing points. Hope that helps.
Sir Adam, I have a punctuation-related question: Could you, please, explain how to use curly quotes? Thank you in advance! Best regards from Ukraine! Looking forward to more videos regarding the topic of crafting decent essays!
" " are generally used for direct quotes (i.e., repeating what someone said or wrote elsewhere). It tells the reader that the words in the quotes are a direct copy of the original. Is this what you had in mind?
Excuse me, but not really. I meant to ask what the difference between straight and curly quotes lies in, and how to correctly use them.
The two main types of quotation marks: Curly quotes are often referred to as smart quotes. That’s because they curve toward the text you’re quoting. This is done automatically in most word processors. Straight quotes are what they sound like - straight, vertical marks without any indication of which word or phrase it’s surrounding. When you look at most keyboards, you’ll see straight quotes instead of curly quotes
But please tell me how to make smart quotes in Google docks Thank you so much for the response! @@Selma7909

having breakfast and watching your explanations. thank you. I like your work site to record your videos, it is elegant and minimalist
Thanks Teacher. I do my best to formalise my writing as it is an essential part of my academic writing
In turn means subsequently not consequently.
Actually, it means both (used to convey that an action, process, or situation is the result or product of a previous one.) In other words, successive actions, with the second resulting from the first. Which transition you use depends on your intention in the subsequent expression.
Keep it up adam you're the the the best teacher i ever had
Hi Adam and thank you so much for this video. I am a native-speaker of English and teach this subject to non-natives at the high school level in Finland. I find my students write English quite fluently but often what their writing lacks is this sense of 'flow'. I appreciate how you've combined basically all of the essential components of good writing into one video. I am planning on showing this to my students when the new school year begins in August and hope it will inspire them! I've been showing many of your videos over the years to my students--you are actually my favorite presenter. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad I can help Krista :)
It' called Simplified English. Most technical documentation, in the aerospace industry at least, is written using these rules, which by the way are a little bit more complicated than you are explaining. The technique includes a set of grammar rules, a vocabulary, and rules about the consruction of the sentences.
Fair enough, there are of course technical features that can be applied, but this lesson is aimed as general writing tips for those learning to write in English.
Hi dear Adam I've been following you for a long time. you're an an amazing teacher. Thank you for your grammar book recommendations. what do you think of 'destination books'? there're in three levels and I found them useful both in grammar and vocabulary.
Thanks Marziyesafari. To be honest, I'm not familiar with the Destination Series. I've used many books over the years, but for higher end lessons create my own curricula based on these books. That said, whatever is effective for you to understand is a good book.
